    Native to the Mediterranean region. Perennial plant that flowers profusely in early summer. Flowers attracts bees, butterflies and hummingbirds.  Seeds have tufts that allow for effective wind dispersal.  Cut blooms before they go to seed to control dispersal.

    Leaves can be eaten fresh in salads or lightly boiled, roots can be boiled in soups.

    Performs well in poor, low fertility and dry soils and grows well around rock walls and masonry work.  Grows 2 – 3 feet high and makes a great cut flower.RedValerian
